Reid tightens up UK visa rules

The UK is to expand its border controls so that three quarters of the world's population will need biometric visas to visit the UK by the end of next year, it was announced today.
Those visas will be biometric, with either a fingerprint or iris scan kept as a record, under the new tightening of immigration rules.

Children face criminal checks from the cradle

Checks will be made on all children to identify potential criminals under an extension of the "surveillance state" announced by Tony Blair.
A Downing Street review of law and order also foreshadowed greater use of sophisticated CCTV, an expanded DNA database and "instant justice" powers for police.

RFID and care records could be linked

A future in which data from hospital systems, including the Care Records Service (CRS), can be integrated with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags used to track patients and equipment in hospitals was spelled out at Healthcare Computing in Harrogate this week.

Police State U.K.

Citizens shouted at by surveillance cameras, trashcans tracked by microchips, DNA taken from litter droppers, and in the future "micro-chipped like dogs"

Citizens of the United Kingdom have become one of the most surveilled, tracked, and traced populations on the earth, with around 4 million surveillance cameras watching their every move. While the United States is moving in the same direction, the U.K. has moved much further in many respects with the construction of a police state control grid. The 9/11 attacks, and even more so the London bombings of July 7th, 2005 have been the reasoning behind the increased security measures. It's not just surveillance cameras they have to worry about, new laws are being passed and others proposed which would place yet another layer of Orwellian control over their lives. READ HERE

18 Diabetic Patients Implanted With VeriMed RFID Microchip At Atlanta Diabetes EXPO

At the Diabetes EXPO, physicians implanted VeriMed RFID microchips in conference attendees who signed up for the voluntary procedure. The VeriMed Patient Identification System, which utilizes an implantable RFID microchip in combination with a handheld RFID scanner and a secure patient database, provides immediate access to important health information for patients who arrive at an emergency department unable to communicate.

"Big Brother" Gaining Ground in Great Britain

Maybe George Orwell was on to something...It seems that "Big Brother" is gaining ground in Great Britain. Starting in 2009, in order to apply for a passport, Britons will be required to register their fingerprints, facial scans and a host of personal information such as second homes, drivers licenses and insurance policy numbers. If they do this, they will receive a national ID card and then their passport.

Your ID card details will be sold to banks

Banks and other businesses are to be sold access to personal information stored on the Government's ID cards database.
Ministers want to raise hundreds of millions towards the £540million a year cost of running the controversial scheme. The data which banks, financial institutions and others will be allowed to access includes names, addresses, any second homes and National Insurance numbers.

Don't like ID cards? Hand over your passport

Anybody who objects to their personal details going on the new "Big Brother" ID cards database will be banned from having a passport. Phil Booth, of the NO2ID group, said: "The idea that ID cards scheme is voluntary, and people can opt-out, is a joke.

Children tricked into giving fingerprints... by headmaster


A primary school headmaster has outraged parents after he tricked his pupils into recording their fingerprints by telling them they were playing spies.
Children were persuaded to give their prints after being told by Mark Woodburn that it was 'just a game...so there's no need to tell your parents'.
